This Spotlight License is the grant of rights for photos uploaded to Spotlight. It is not the Terms of Service and not campaign usage rights (usage_rights_2026_08_23). Quality rules (clean photo of the pet, no overlay text or stickers) live in the Spotlight photo guidelines. If this license and the Terms conflict on a Spotlight photo, this license controls the grant of rights.
1. Acceptance and version
By checking the box in the upload modal and uploading a photo to Spotlight, you agree to this version. We record the version in force at upload. A later version applies only to later uploads, unless we give 30 days' notice as for material changes to the Terms.
2. You keep ownership
You retain copyright and all other ownership in the photo. This is a license, not a transfer, assignment, or work made for hire. Neither we nor anyone who downloads the photo may claim to own it.
3. What you grant Dogfluence
You grant Dogfluence.com LLC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, copy (including CDN and backups), display, moderate, review, and make the photo publicly available in the free photo library on Dogfluence and Purrfluence, where anyone can find and download it without an account, and to use a thumbnail or crop of the photo to operate and promote the library.
4. What you grant everyone who downloads
Anyone who downloads the photo from the free photo library, with or without an account, including brands and publishers, receives a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use that photo in personal and commercial work, for example:
- websites, blogs, newsletters, and apps
- organic social posts
- e-commerce product and collection pages
- advertising and marketing material
- presentations, packaging, and other print, once the photo is adapted to the project
Attribution follows the mark on that photo in the library at the time of download:
- Credit required: the user must keep the creator's credit visible on or directly next to the photo. A link back to the creator's profile is optional.
- Free to use, no credit: attribution is optional (encouraged, not required).
The user may crop, resize, recolor, and otherwise adapt the photo. The user may not: remove required attribution; claim ownership; sell unaltered copies of the photo as a poster, print, or other physical product; redistribute or sell the photo on another stock, wallpaper, or photo-library platform, or as part of a competing library; use the photo as part of a trademark, logo, trade name, or business name; show an identifiable person in a negative, misleading, or offensive way; use the photo to train a generative AI model; use the photo in a way that suggests the creator, the pet, or a visible brand endorses a third party; or use the photo after we notify them of a rights complaint.
Hosting the photo on one's own website or e-commerce platform (for example Shopify) solely to show it there is not redistribution.
The public Photo License page for people who download summarises these terms.
5. Duration
The license for a download made while the photo was available in the library continues after the photo is removed or your account is closed, except where we notify the user of a rights complaint — then new placement, re-upload, and paid ads must stop. Removal from the library stops new downloads.
6. What you promise
You represent that:
- you own the photo or have permission from the owner, including permission from the pet's owner
- no other brand's logo, packaging, label, or trademark is in the frame, unless you have the right to show it
- the photo has no watermark or third-party stock mark
- no recognizable person appears unless you have a release
- the photo is not AI-generated to impersonate a real pet or person
- the photo does not infringe third-party rights
You will indemnify Dogfluence against claims arising from the photo or from a breach of these promises, as in the Terms.
7. Guidelines, review, and refusal
Spotlight photos may be reviewed before they are published in the library. We may refuse, hide, or remove a photo that does not meet the Spotlight photo guidelines (including overlay text, stickers, or watermarks) or that we reasonably believe breaches this license or the Terms. A caption under the photo is not part of the image and is allowed; that rule lives in the guidelines, not in this grant.
8. Removal
You may remove a photo from Spotlight. We may remove it. Removal stops new downloads. Existing downloads stay under section 5, unless there is a rights complaint.
9. How to download
Anyone may download a photo from the library, without an account and without a fee. The license in section 4 covers a photo downloaded from the library. Scraping, bulk copying, or using a photo taken from somewhere else is not licensed.
10. Relationship to other terms
Campaign collabs and Content Hub UGC stay under the Terms and usage_rights_2026_08_23. Spotlight is a separate grant. The Terms, Privacy Policy, and this license together cover Spotlight. The Terms' liability cap, as-is service, acceptable use, and account rules still apply.
11. Changes
We may publish a new version. Material changes: 30 days' notice by email or in-app, as for the Terms. Continued upload after that date is acceptance of the new version for new photos.
