Leo, a cheerful cocker spaniel with a heart full of love, was born in a little town up north, where he was faced with a unique challenge right from the start. He had a cleft lip and palate, a condition that made him different from the other puppies. His face wasn’t like the rest, but his spirit was as bright as the sun. Leo’s journey began at the Cleft Rescue Unit in New York, where he was gently cared for by people who understood how to give him the support he needed. His playful eyes and unshakable determination quickly made him an inspiration to the other special-needs animals in the rescue. They saw in him a symbol of hope—that even the most difficult of starts could lead to something incredible. Leo’s adoptive mommy lives in South Florida where she works with children who also have cleft lips/palates and/or other craniofacial conditions . His joy in life, his ability to comfort, and his own journey of overcoming obstacles made him the perfect candidate to heal hearts in need.. Leo is now a trained therapy dog and will be making children and adults smile and see that they are not alone in this journey.
