On December 18th 2021 my boy was diagnosed with MCT (mast cell tumors). We had surgery to remove the lumps on December 27th. Basically for the rest of his life he can have these lumps come and go. He was also being treated at the oncologist and started chemo for the higher grade tumor in his leg in March 2022. We just recently had to discontinue in January 2023 because of the side effects + personality change, but he’s living and loving life! His siblings get the benefits from their brother being a "cancer dog". I started this site to be able to help others with their pups going through MCT or just a scary cancer diagnosis in general. When we first found out about his cancer I didn’t know what to do. The vet called around 2pm and by 6pm I had read and watched over 100 things on MCT. I joined a holistic group on Facebook, and ordered new food and supplements on Amazon. Looking back on it, I'm not sure we should have done the original surgery in December. Once you start messing with MCT it makes them "angry" so to speak. And we had dirty margins(didn't get all the tumor) on those, so the likelihood of them coming back is great. Ella is a sassy, beautiful, loving shepherd mix. She loves her older brother (Buster) with everything she's got. Her dad is her favorite human & she's obsessed with toys. She's still learning to like her younger brother (Hudson), but everyday she grows a tiny bit more fond of him. Hudson is our newest addition to the family. He's a black lab & is a ball of energy. With having the two older dogs we forgot how #puppylife was, but he's teaching all of us patience.
