It was winter of 2018 and my best friend informed me that the dogs shelters were begging people to foster because they were getting so full. Due to almost reaching max capacity, “they would have to start making tough decisions, aka they would have to start putting dogs down. I wasn’t going to let that happen, so I drove straight to the animal rescue. As soon as I saw Phyllis shivering, skin and bones in a kennel I knew she had to come home with me. She wasn't fixed yet, so I had to leave her there one more night and it broke my heart. I picked her up as soon a I could the next day. Almost immediately my Mom was interested in keeping her, but I lived in New Orleans and she was in St. Louis. Potato was going through heart worm treatment, I quickly feel in love. Quickly she put on lots of weight gaining herself the official name, Potato. After coming from the streets of New Orleans, Potato's hard shell melted quickly and her silly personally and wiggly butt came out. Seeing rescue dogs come out of their shell in a safe, loving home is such a blessing. It brings me so much joy in fact that I started a non profit, Rescue Movement Alliance. Our mission is to rescue animals so THEY have a tomorrow & reduce waste so WE have a tomorrow. We aim to restore hope for rescue animals in need through encouraging and educating people on fostering and adoption. We plan to accomplish this primarily through hosting fun interviews with thought leaders, animal rescues, animal behavioral experts, sustainably conscious beings, etc. These interviews will be shared in order help reveal where our efforts are needed most, so we can make the biggest impact. By educating people on the specifics of dog breeds and encouraging foster care especially before fully committing to adopting a soul in need, we hope to prevent animals from being returned to shelters or even worse, being neglected or abandoned. We know that rescue animals thrive best in foster homes where they can get the one on one attention and care they need in order to truly flourish. That is why we are adamant educating and promoting fostering. We can only house so many animals, so our ability to continue serving as many animals as possible rely on our foster homes. Thank you for taking time to read our rescue story and the mission it’s helped spark. XO, Potato & Elizabeth
